Murray chooses to score the wines in reviews as it provides a quick reference point, however the scores should be taken with a healthy dose of salt, they merely reflect what we think of the wine on the day.
Scored out of 100:- 96-100: Outstanding, the best wine of its kind
- 90-95: Excellent, a step above the rest in terms of balance and complexity
- 80-89: Good to Very Good, generaly the best value quaffers fall in here
- 70-79: Average, you would be better off drinking beer
- 60-69: Poor, generally reserved for cheap french imports or Sauvignon Blanc
